Chhindwara’s daughter and mountaineer Bhawna Dehariya has accomplished another milestone in her already illustrious career. On India’s Independence Day, she hoisted the Tricolor on Mount Elbrus in Russia.

Bhawna hoisted the Indian flag on top of Mt. Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. The height of this hill is 5,642 meters.

Bhawna Dehariya is very happy about this achievement; she is a resident of Chhindwara’s small village, Tamia.

She is 30 years old and is also the mother of a 15 month old daughter. Bhawna’s first mountaineering expedition after giving birth, this was a really challenging climb! It was with an amazing sense of achievement that Bhawna successfully reached the summit Europes highest point at 5642 meters above sea level.

Bhawna’s team reached Mineralnye Vody town from the Russian capital Moscow on 10th August.

On August 11th, during an acclimatization rotation, she climbed to an altitude of 2,346m. However, she experienced nosebleeds.

She arrived at basecamp on August 12th at an altitude of 3,888 meters. The next two days, her team completed rotations of up to 4,500 meters to make sure their bodies are protected from the change of air pressure and atmospheric pressure as they trek up the mountain (this is necessary).

In August 2018, she was selected by the Government of India’s Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs. She then climbed to 6593 meters above sea level at the Mount Manirang peak.

In May 2019 Bhavna became the first woman from MP to reach the top of Mount Everest, which is 8,848 metres tall.

In the same year, Bhawna conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa on the day of Deepawali and Aconcagua in Argentina, South America on December 31.

Dear Bhawna we team want to congratulate you on this achievement. It’s a proud moment for our country and especially the residents of Chhindwara district that Chhindwara’s daughter has flown to Europe on the 75th anniversary of the country.
